A symbol of German bureaucracy: the Grundstücksverkehrsgenehmigungszuständigkeitsübertragungsverordnung. Long, complex, and difficult to navigate, it reflects a system known for its thoroughness, but also for its complicated administrative language, forms, applications, laws, and regulations. Created during the Wortbild seminar in the Summer Semester 2026 at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK), this project uses typography to make this complexity visible. During the UdK Rundgang, visitors were invited to stamp the original Grundstücksverkehrsgenehmigungszuständigkeitsübertragungsverordnung as often and wherever they wished. Through this repetitive act, they became part of the bureaucratic process themselves.
